AC power systems arc flash study

Our experienced engineers perform a comprehensive on-site survey to collect all necessary electrical data from your facility’s AC distribution system. This includes equipment ratings, conductor lengths, and protective device settings to accurately determine the available fault current at each bus.

Using this data, we conduct a short-circuit and protective device coordination analysis to ensure that all upstream and downstream devices operate safely and selectively. Based on these results, we calculate incident energy levels and arc flash boundaries in accordance with the latest IEEE 1584-2018 Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations and NFPA 70E, Article 130.5(G) requirements.

Each location is assigned an appropriate label as a results of the site analysis in accordance with NFPA70E, Article 150.5(H).

DC power systems Arc flash study

Protecting personnel and equipment from the hazards of electrical arcs is a critical aspect of any power system design. A DC arc flash analysis evaluates potential energy release in direct current systems such as battery banks, UPS units, solar arrays, and DC distribution panels. Through this study, we identify arc flash boundaries, calculate incident energy levels, and recommend appropriate equipment labeling to ensure compliance and operational safety.

Our process follows the latest NFPA 70E – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and IEEE 1584 – Guide for Performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations, as well as applicable OSHA requirements. Using accurate modeling and simulation tools, we assess fault conditions and system configurations to develop clear, actionable results.
